WLES



WLES is Lucky Elementary's own news program that is broadcast each morning over the central distribution system.  Fourth and Fifth grade students are chosen to produce, direct, and run the news program each day.  Several crews are selected each year, and this is a great privilege to be chosen to participate.  The fourth and fifth grade students are in charge of writing scripts, running the sound equipment, operating the camera, and informing the school community of the day's and future events.  Our students do a terrific job!



Student Council

The Student Council is open to all students in grades 3-5.  All interested students must attend a meeting where they are given expectations of Student Council Representatives.  Those candidates who are interested write a speech explaining why they would make a good representative for their class.  Elections are held after speeches are given to determine who will represent each classroom. 

Student Council members participate in school and community projects.  They collect newspapers for recycling, work on Saturdays in the Outdoor Classroom, and raise money to help with different community projects including Habitat for Humanity.  Representatives must attend 2 monthly meetings at 7:30 AM.  They must maintain passing grades as well as good conduct grades.  The representatives work hard to represent their classes and our school.  They do a fantastic job!
